The 30-second version
The first evening is Ipanema. Start at Posto 9, then walk Rua Farme de Amoedo. Silêncio Ipanema is on Teixeira de Melo 47. Galeria Café at number 31 closed in February 2026. For a second night, choose Copacabana — Pink Flamingo, La Cueva, Tau — or Lapa — Street, Portal, Agyto. Botafogo is a third outing: Macuna, Oscar Selvagem, and Mãe Joana. Santa Teresa, Barra, Saúde, and Campo Grande are separate doors, not extra first evenings.
How the scene fits together
Rio in this guide is a cluster city, not one barrio. Ipanema is the beach and the street. Copacabana is the other Zona Sul night and the Pride orla. Lapa is Centro. Botafogo is bars without a beach. Zona Oeste and the port are for people who already know they want that door. Community threads still argue that “there is no gay club left.” The government pages still name rooms. This census keeps the rooms that have a street on Riotur or Visit Rio, and it holds the famous names that do not.
Bars and rooms with a specific door
Silêncio Ipanema is the remaining Teixeira de Melo listing. Pink Flamingo is on Raul Pompéia 102, the old Le Boy address. La Cueva is on Miguel Lemos. Tau is on Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and Visit Rio says it opens every day. Street Lapa is Riachuelo 15. Portal is Lavradio 163; ignore the stale Gomes Freire map name. Agyto is Mem de Sá 66. Macuna, Oscar Selvagem, and Mãe Joana are the Botafogo trio. Novooeste is the Santa Teresa dinner. Silêncio Barra is Olegário Maciel from 17:00 Tuesday to Sunday on the Visit Rio page. Up Turn is Américas 2000. Kode is Sacadura Cabral 308. Espaço Fênix is Campo Grande.
Daytime and the beach
Posto 9 is the outdoor first hour. Farme de Amoedo is the street behind it. Booze Bar prints number 47 and does not call itself LGBTQ, so it is not listed as a gay bar. QG Pub is named without a street. QueeRIOca’s centre moved in September 2026; Riotur still says Arco do Teles, so that door waits.
Pride and the calendar
The 31ª Parada do Orgulho LGBTI+ Rio is dated 22 November 2026 on the Copacabana orla in the May 2026 campaign launch. Confirm the concentration post closer to the date; the organiser homepage was parked on 1 October 2026. Rio de Cores, V de Viadão, Festa Agyto, and Femme Club Rio wait on the next official window. Buy only from the organiser.
Before you go
Rio uses America/Sao_Paulo. Metrô General Osório covers Ipanema. Cantagalo and Siqueira Campos cover Copacabana. Cinelândia or Glória plus a short hop covers Lapa. Barra, Campo Grande, and Saúde are not a metro-and-walk from Posto 9. Cover, last entry, and show times change; read the Riotur, Visit Rio, or venue page the day you go. The beach is a meeting point, not a guarantee of a safe night on every block after dark.
