The guide
Seoul LGBTQ+ guide: a simple first weekend
Start in Itaewon or Haebangchon for an easier international first night, then use Jongno, current party schedules, Pride, and queer film for a deeper Seoul weekend.
By Frank Santos · Updated 11 August 2026
The 30-second version
Seoul has two different nightlife introductions. Itaewon’s “Homo Hill” and nearby Haebangchon are more visible and international; Jongno 3-ga has a deeper local gay-bar history and many smaller rooms. Begin in Itaewon if you want the least navigation friction.
How the scene fits together
Do not treat “Homo Hill” as an official neighborhood name or a guarantee that every bar is queer. Queen moved from its older hill location, and individual businesses change quickly. Naver Map or KakaoMap is usually more useful in South Korea than relying on Google Maps alone.
Women-focused and all-gender choices
Permanent sapphic venues are thinner in the sources than gay-male nightlife. Rabbit Hole is broadly queer and welcoming, while women-focused nights more often appear as dated parties. We do not relabel a mixed bar as lesbian-focused just because one event happened there.
Pride, film, and culture
Seoul Queer Culture Festival, the parade, Korea Queer Film Festival, and Seoul Drag Parade are the public calendar anchors. Completed 2026 dates are not carried forward.
A simple first weekend
- Friday: start with a drink in Itaewon or a show at Rabbit Hole, then decide whether Queen or Trance is worth a later stop.
- Saturday: choose Jongno for quieter local bars and food, or one specifically advertised club or drag event.
- Sunday: use a film, Pride, or history program when one is current; otherwise keep the day ordinary and flexible.
Before you go
Save the Korean name, building floor, and map pin. Nightlife starts late, and some places open only a few nights per week. Check the official social post, bring photo ID, and plan the trip home after trains stop.
Every public listing in this Seoul release was checked on 11 August 2026. A checked listing means the identity and current evidence were reviewed; it does not mean the city will stop changing. Open the official link again on the day.
