SoMa’s Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District is a separate outing from the Castro, not a walk from Twin Peaks. The district’s visit page names SF Eagle, Lone Star, Oasis, and Mr. S Leather. Folsom Street is the street cluster inside it. Tenderloin and Polk are not mapped: each had only one first-party door in this census.

Getting oriented
Think of this as an area to know, not a border.
Queer life spills across San Francisco. This page simply groups places that are easy to combine in one outing.
Getting there
Muni Metro to Civic Center or Van Ness, then walk south, or the 12 Folsom/Pacific and 27 Bryant buses. This is a planned second evening.
Accessibility
Street, building, lift, toilet, seating, and sensory access vary by venue. Check the exact venue when access is important.
Leather patio bar at 398 12th Street. The official site says SoMa, established 1981, 21+, and “the heart of San Francisco’s leather and kink community.” The Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District visit page names the Eagle. The site footer prints a weekly grid.
Bear bar at 1354 Harrison. The official site says it opened in 1989 and moved to this Harrison Street room after Loma Prieta. The Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District visit page names it. A weekly hours grid was not printed on the fetched homepage.
Drag cabaret and nightclub at 298 11th Street. The official site announced a grand reopening on 17 July 2026 and calls the room a space for joy, inclusion, and celebration of queer identity. The Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District visit page names it. A weekly hours grid was not printed on the fetched homepage.
Leather shop at 385 8th Street. The official site and the Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District visit page place it in SoMa. It is a store, not a bar. A weekly hours grid was not printed on the fetched homepage.

Other areas in San Francisco
Compare these parts of the city before choosing a base or planning an outing. They may be spread out, so check each area’s travel details.
The Castro is the walkable first evening in this census. SF.gov’s Perfect Day in the Castro treats it as the hub of LGBTQ+ culture in San Francisco. Castro Street, 18th Street, and Upper Market are street clusters inside it, not second cities. Harvey Milk Plaza, the Rainbow Honor Walk, and Pink Triangle Memorial sit at the Castro and Market entrance.
Castro Street between Market and 19th is the first street crawl after you arrive. Twin Peaks is at 401. The Castro Theatre is at 429. Cliff’s Variety is at 479. The Rainbow Honor Walk plaques run the sidewalk. Treat it as one outing, not a second neighborhood.
18th Street west of Castro is the second Castro street. The Edge is at 4149. The GLBT History Museum is at 4127. Midnight Sun is at 4067. SF.gov names The Edge with the museum. It is a second street, not a second city.
Upper Market is the north edge of the Castro, a short walk from Harvey Milk Plaza. The Café is at 2369 Market. Beaux is at 2344. Hi Tops is at 2247. Lookout is around the corner at 3600 16th. SF.gov names Lookout. These are four doors on one edge, not a second city.
Folsom Street is the leather-district street crawl. Powerhouse is at 1347 Folsom. The Stud is at 1123 Folsom. The district visit page names both. Folsom Street Fair uses this corridor. It is one street inside the district, not a second city.
The Mission is a separate night from the Castro. El Rio is at 3158 Mission. Jolene’s is at 2700 16th. Mother is at 3079 16th and prints “all queers welcome.” Those are three first-party doors, not a street strip you treat as one crawl. Bernal Heights is not mapped: Wild Side West stays a standalone listing.
